Be smart when shopping for snowboard boots.

If you are a snowboarder boots is one of the most important purchases you will make.  The boot is your connection to the board.  If it is too loose you risk the danger of hurting your ankles, if the boot is to tight you risk damaging your knees.

So of the key factors to think about when buying a boot are the following:

Price.  In the case of snowboarding it is better to error on the side of caution then to buy a cheap boot and risk injuring yourself.  Prices can range from one hundred dollars to over five hundred.  The important thing to think about is safety.  When you try on a pair of boots do not look at the price tag rather think about how they feel on your foot.  Saving a few dollars will not help if you have to pay a hospital bill for a broken ankle or damaged knee.

Appearance.  Yes all snowboarders want to look hip and cool we all know that.  When selecting your boots try to find a pair that either match or compliment your pants and jacket.  This way not only will you look cool going down the half pipe you will also impress some people with your ability to color coordinate.

Fit.  Nothing is more important then the fit of your snowboard boots.  If you choose the step in or slide in type of boot they must fit snuggly.  By snug I mean a comfortable fit not a snowboard boot that feels like it is crushing your foot.  As with ski boots it is advisable to consult a sales professional when buying.  If they know what they are doing they will help you find a snug but not to tight pair of boots.  It is important to feel the boot remember this is hat is going to attach you to the board.

Do not try to save a few bucks by buying used snowboard boots; you do not know how badly the previous owner abused them

Whatever you selection is, have fun, be safe and I will see you at the bottom of the pipe.
